As Director of Genome Analytics in EIT's Pathogen Program, Nils leads a multidisciplinary team spanning bioinformatics, computational genomics, software engineering, and product management. Together, these groups design, build, and deliver the high-quality analytical solutions that power EIT鈥檚 pathogen genomics platform and future devices.
Nils has an extensive background in genomics and health technology. Most recently, as Head of Computational and Statistical Genomics at Novo Nordisk, he led a team developing tools and analytical methods to harness genomic data for drug discovery. Prior to that, Nils was part of the science team at Genomics PLC, where he led the Therapeutics Data Science group.
Nils earned his PhD in molecular biology from the University of Cambridge, where he studied gene regulation through the statistical analysis of DNA and RNA sequencing data. He then worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the European Bioinformatics Institute in Cambridge and at the Weather all Institute and the Big Data Institute in Oxford, focusing on genetic variation in the human genome and its links to disease.
Outside of science, Nils enjoys playing (very casual!) football, meeting friends, hiking, running, and playing board games.
