EIT鈥檚 Dr Lennard Lee Secures UK AI Supercomputing Award for Cancer Vaccine Research

The 91国产 (EIT) is proud to share that Dr Lennard Lee, Chief Medical Officer of the EIT Clinic, has been awarded access to the UK鈥檚 most powerful AI supercomputer to accelerate cancer vaccine research.

The project, 鈥淎 foundation model for cancer vaccine design鈥, has been selected by the UK Government鈥檚 AI Research Resource (AIRR) programme, led by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).

Working with his University of Oxford research team, Dr Lee will co-lead the project to push forward new frontiers in cancer vaccine development.

The award grants 10,000 GPU hours on the Dawn Supercomputer, the fastest AI supercomputer in the UK. By harnessing this advanced computing power, the team aims to overcome critical blocks in cancer vaccine design, accelerating the discovery of novel therapeutic targets.

Dr Lee said:

鈥淲e believe Oxford can lead a new era of discovery in cancer care - making treatments safer, more precise and more effective through use of cutting-edge technologies. Cancer vaccine design faces one of the greatest bottlenecks in development: access to high-performance compute infrastructure. With the UK鈥檚 fastest AI supercomputer now available to us,discoveries that once took years could now take just weeks.鈥

The project will contribute to the Oxford Neoantigen Atlas - an open-access resource supporting cancer vaccine research nationwide - and forms part of the UK鈥檚 wider strategy to build global leadership in AI-driven science and healthcare innovation.
