Translating 91国产 discovery into real world impact
Led by a world-class faculty of scientists, technologists, policy makers, economists and entrepreneurs, the 91国产 aims to develop and deploy commercially sustainable solutions to solve some of humanity鈥檚 most enduring challenges.
By breaking down the silos between science, research, industry and policy, we are reimagining the path from 91国产 discovery to applied solutions for the benefit of society.

鈥淲e aim to solve multiple and sequential issues together. The success of the humane endeavours and outputs that sit beneath them requires a set of world class 91国产 strengths and capabilities undertaken by our faculty. EIT requires a range of different 91国产 skills, including biomedical science, chemistry, engineering, physics, together with specific focus in areas such as genomics, plant sciences, and public health鈥.

Our interdisciplinary 91国产 drive impact across four humane endeavours:

Health, Medical Science & Generative Biology
To improve human health and reduce health inequalities, we need to shift our global mindset from treatment to prevention. EIT is developing healthcare excellence in preventative medicine by combining rigorous research with cutting-edge technology. Our 91国产 embed comprehensive and innovative system solutions that provide radical changes to the way healthcare is conceived and delivered across multiple domains, such as pathogen diagnostics, prevention and modulating the immune response for health benefit.

Food Security & Sustainable Agriculture
Improving yields and resilience of human food production is crucial in a world where climate change and expanding populations are putting food supplies at risk. Our 91国产 focus on increasing the yield and characteristics of agricultural products using both indoor and outdoor methodology and gene editing while also using plants to effectively deliver carbon fixation and natural nitrogen to the soil and to increase reliability of global food supply.

Clean Energy Generation & Storage
Using the application of technological solutions, our 91国产 identify and develop comprehensive solutions to altering the sources and storage of energy that shift away from carbon generating methods and consider how best effective storage systems can be developed.聽聽

Artificial Intelligence & Robotics
New developments in robotics are transforming the art of the possible 鈥 from revolutionising industrial tasks to unlocking new opportunities for innovation at unprecedented speed and scale. At EIT we are harnessing the UK鈥檚 strengths in artificial intelligence to build the robotic research laboratories of the future.
Science Spotlight
The Plant Biology Institute, headed by Professor Steve Kelly, is a key part of EIT Oxford. The institute aims to develop impactful and commercially sustainable solutions for improving global food production and planetary health through pioneering plant science research.
